Look after me

I have only had these flowers for one day and they are beginning to die. is it because the flowers don't have enough water, enough light? Its a shame that flowers don't last for longer.

Things die quicker when you don't know how to take care of them. Its the same with relationships. Lack of communication, not spending enough time with each other, not being caring enough, not making the effort etc. can kill a relationship.

Its the same with material possessions, if you don't look after things it will get damaged really easily. Like dropping your phone on the floor, spilling water on it.

Everything is so fragile, everything changes, nothing ever stays the same, nothing is permanent.

Hong Kong 09/10

Today is 22nd Jan and I wouldn't say I am still jetlagged but my sleeping pattern is all over the place. I come back from work each day and end up having a long nap at 7pm! Then properly sleeping again around 2am.

Here is a summary of what I did in Hong Kong, from 25th Dec - 12th Jan.

25th&26th Dec 09 - Flight to Hong Kong! I didn't like the flight meals - curry for evening meal and curry again for breakfast :(
27th - Shopping in Sheung Shui. We had dinner with Kar Lan and Amanda.
28th - Shopping in Sha Tin. We had dinner with Aunt Gloria etc.
29th - Shopping in Yuen Long
30th - Shopping in Kowloon Tong and Mong Kok, met Liyee for sushi
31st - Went to Yan Tian, China to meet up with family (for a few days). Cousin took us to Cocopark (a shopping centre in Shenzhen) to do a countdown to the new year, 2010! There was a small concert with singing and dancing. Only one firework though.

1st Jan 2010 - Spending time with family, had a big dinner and then shopping in Shenzhen.
2nd - Went to Tea Stream Valley Amusement Park. Caught the cable car to go to the top of a mountain, it was so foggy that we could not see any of the scenery.
3rd - Left Yan Tian to go back to Grandmother Yau's.

4th - Went to Lantau Island to go to the big buddha statue with family (minus Ting).

5th - Went to the peak, it was such a foggy and windy day - could not see anything.

6th - Went to Chi Lin Nunnery (see pic below), Kowloon Walled City Park, Wong Tai Sin Temple and Nan Lian Garden.

7th - Went to Snoopy's World in Sha Tin and went shopping in Tai Po.

8th - Went to Cheung Chau Island, with mum. We caught a ferry.

Also went to the Avenue of Stars. And we also met Liyee and Stevie for dinner and dessert, at Kowloon Tong.

9th - Went to Lamma Island with family. Lots of strenuous walking involved!

We also watched the sunset when we were on the ferry back to Central. It was so pretty.

10th - Met up with lots of family, for our last goodbyes. Lots of eating, shopping in Sheung Shui and met Liyee. We also had an inexpensive massage! $57 for a 2hour massage.

11th - A rainy day spent at Disneyland all on my lonesome. Walking around with wet shoes and wet feet all day long. I stayed to watch the fireworks.

12th - Shopping in Sheung Shui and packing. Flight back to UK.

13th - Back to a freezing cold UK!

I didn't buy much in HK. I got some black converses with rainbow colours round the edge, a purple hoodie with polka dots (see pic above), a blue hoodie, some photo albums, a panda cuddly toy, notebooks, muji pens. Thats it I think.

I had the best time in HK. Can't wait until I go again.

Quotes

I like these quotes from Jodi Picoult's book - "Second Glance".

2010

22 days late but Happy New Year to everyone.  I hope everyones' dreams come true and I hope mine do as well. I know what I want to happen in 2010.

The All-Seeing Eye

When we're awake, we see what we need to see.
When we're alseep, we see what's really there.

(I read the above passage from 'Jodi Picoult's' book - Second Glance).

Sometimes we never see what's really in front of us. We can turn a blind eye to the things we don't want to see. We can ignore the truth if we want to.

I wish I was more perceptive.

We call it life

Beginnings are usually scary and endings are usually sad, but it’s the middle that counts.

(From 'Hope`Floats' film)

What makes you angry?

Lol, I just went on facebook, I only go on their to see if anone has answered questions on that social interview application. So I hit the "question of the day" button and the qu of the day is: "What makes you angry?", lol where do I start?!

Actually all of the below make me angry on different levels. Or some of the pet peeves makes me upset and unhappy rather than angry.

I get angry when people don't make the effort.

When people complain that they have so much work to do, but carry on talking and then expect me to answer the phone and get given work that I am not even supposed to do.

When I don't get any warning.

When people are nosy! If I want anybody to know something about me, then I would tell them. If I don't tell someone my business, its because I don't want you to know, I'm not ready to tell you, I don't know how to tell you, I have not had the chance to tell you yet, or you don't need to know etc. What infuriates me even more, is that when I don't want somebody to know my business, they ask lots of other people to try and dig up dirt! Why does someone want to know about my life, especially if they don't even know me that well or if they don't even like me.

I don't like it when people tell other people about my business. Especially when I have not even had the chance to tell them myself. It makes me think - what else are you saying when I am not around. It might sound irrational, but when you don't like someone, you don't want anything to do with them and I especially don't want them to know anything about my life, even if its something small like what I am planning to do in the weekend.

When people try to get their own way.

When people are manipulative.

When people can't see the truth.

When people drive ridiculously slow.

When people don't indicate when driving.

When people rush out from junctions and make you slow down very suddenly. Whats the rush?!

When people smoke in my face.

When people lie to me. (Well actually I can't always tell when people are lying to me).

When people use you and take advantage.

When people laugh at you for not understanding something.

When people don't understand me.

When people take things out on me or others.

That's all for now. If you look at the list, you might think - I have contradicted myself here and there but hey I'm not perfect.

I'm too cute to die

Look at this picture of a cute bunny.

Now tell me, would you want to kill it? Would you want to eat it?

If you answered yes to either of the questions - then HOW COULD YOU?!?!

I know some people think its ok to kill rabbits, because they are a pest for farmers.

I know some countries eat rabbit as one of their meals.

But look again at the picture, isn't the bunny so cute?

Poems from "The Notebook"

Here are a few poems that I liked from "The Notebook" by Nicholas Sparks.

#1
I ne'er was struck before that hour
With love so sudden and so sweet,
Her face it bloomed like a sweet flower
And stole my heart away complete.

#2
The body slows with mortal ache, yet
my promise
remains true at the losing of our days,
A tender touch that ends with a kiss
will awaken love in joyous ways.

#3
Our souls were one, if you must know
and never shall they be apart;
With splendid dawn, your face aglow
I reach for you and find my heart.

Your Life

You can't live your life for other people.
You've got to do whats right for you.
Even if it hurts the people you love.
